About This Item

GLB Algae-X 30% Polyquat Algaecide: 32 oz Bottle

Treat green and yellow algae with this non-foaming multi-purpose algaecide. Easy and convenient, Algae-X is effective over a wide pH range.

Features and Benefits:

  • Contains 30% polymer algaecide
  • Does not require pH adjustments to be effective
  • Compatible with chlorine, bromine, salt water chlorine, ozone, biguanide and mineral sanitizing systems

Active Ingredient:

  • Poly[oxyethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene(dimethyliminio)ethylene dichloride] (30%)

Application and Dosage Rates (per the label):

For maximum effectiveness, pools with a large amount of algae present must be cleaned prior to using this product. Pools having visible algae growth must be treated with 32 oz. per 10,000 gallons of pool water. (Poolaroo note: That's one bottle per 10,000 gallons)

After 24 hours, the algae debris must be removed by standard cleaning procedures, including brushing loose algae spots, vacuuming the pool and backwashing the filter.

For treatment of a freshly cleaned and filled pool, add 18 oz. (half bottle) per 10,000 gallons of pool water.  To maintain pools free of visible algae growth, add 6 oz. per 10,000 gallons of pool water every week after initial treatment.  Apply this product directly to the pool water with the circulation system turned on.  Allow ample time for product to be distributed before turning off the pump.

This product is compatible with other chemicals commonly used to treat swimming pools and it is effective in both acid and alkaline pH ranges.  It can be used in pools treated with chlorine chemicals, and its use may reduce the amount of these chemicals required.

Compatible with bromine, chlorine, salt water, ozone, biguanide, and mineral sanitizer systems.

Pool Brushes for Thorough Surface Cleaning

You must scrub the walls to break the algae's protective slime layer so the chemicals can penetrate and kill it.
