When replacing this bulkhead fitting, inspect the mating tank wall surface for any cracks, abrasion, or deformation around the port opening before installing the new fitting. A damaged seating surface will prevent a proper seal regardless of fitting condition. Confirm the replacement fitting is fully seated and torqued evenly — alternating side to side — to avoid distorting the gasket and introducing a leak path under pressure.
