What It Does
The bump handle connects to the bump shaft assembly on Perflex DE filters, allowing you to manually redistribute DE filter media inside the filter body. Actuating the handle dislodges spent DE powder from the flex tubes and recoats them with fresh media — extending filter cycles without a full backwash. Constructed from Noryl, a glass-reinforced thermoplastic resin known for its dimensional stability and chemical resistance in pool water environments.

Before replacing the bump handle, inspect the bump shaft and O-ring at the base of the assembly. A worn shaft O-ring is a common source of air leaks on Perflex filters and is inexpensive to replace at the same time. If the handle was difficult to actuate prior to failure, check the bump shaft for scoring or debris buildup before reinstalling the new handle.
