About This Item
The Hayward Cone Spindle Gear (AXV303) is the OEM replacement drive gear for Hayward Navigator Pro and PoolVac XL automatic suction pool cleaners, as well as the Wanda The Whale above-ground cleaner.
This internal gear drives the cleaner's turbine and directional mechanism, translating water-powered energy into the controlled, random-pattern movement that keeps the cleaner traversing the pool floor and walls. When the cone spindle gear wears or cracks, the cleaner may stall, lose its cleaning pattern, or fail to change direction. Replacing this component restores proper drive function without replacing the full cleaner head.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When servicing the drive train, inspect the surrounding gears and the turbine assembly for wear at the same time — these components share load and tend to degrade together. Replacing a worn cone spindle gear alongside any adjacent worn gears in a single service visit avoids a repeat teardown shortly after.
