When reinstalling the union connector, inspect the mating surfaces and any included O-rings for wear or distortion before reassembly. Hand-tighten union nuts first, then snug firmly — over-tightening union nuts can crack the fitting body. After returning the system to pressure, check the union joint for weeping before leaving the equipment pad.
