About This Item
The Hayward Strainer Cover O-Ring (SPX2300Z4) is the OEM replacement sealing O-ring for the strainer cover on Hayward MaxFlo XL, MaxFlo XE, and MaxFlo VS pump models.
IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. Browse our Pool Plumbing Lubricants for a compatible silicone lubricant.
This O-ring seats between the strainer pot body and the strainer cover lid, creating the pressure-tight seal that keeps the pump primed and prevents air from entering the suction side of the system. Replacing a cracked, flattened, or hardened O-ring is the standard first step when a strainer cover leaks or the pump loses prime at that joint.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
O-rings harden and lose elasticity over time — even if one isn't visibly damaged, proactively replacing it during any strainer pot service call prevents air ingestion problems before they start. Always coat the O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before reseating the strainer cover; petroleum-based lubricants will degrade the rubber. Browse Pool Plumbing Lubricants to find a compatible silicone option.
