The Hayward Viton Shaft Seal Assembly (SPX2700SAV) is the OEM replacement mechanical shaft seal for the MaxFlo XE and MaxFlo VS pump families, designed for the 5/8" pump shaft.
This mechanical seal prevents water from migrating along the pump shaft into the motor, protecting the motor bearings from premature failure. The Viton elastomer construction provides superior chemical resistance compared to standard EPDM seals, making it well-suited for pools and spas treated with higher sanitizer concentrations or alternative chemistries.

When replacing the shaft seal, inspect the seal seat in the pump housing for scoring or mineral deposits and clean the mating surface before installing the new seal. A compromised seat face will cause the new seal to leak regardless of its condition. Always shut off power to the pump at the breaker and drain the pump housing completely before beginning any seal replacement work.
