About This Item
The Hayward Diffuser O-Ring (SPX4000Z1) is the OEM replacement sealing O-ring for the diffuser assembly on Hayward TriStar VS, TriStar VS-C, and TriStar XE variable-speed pumps.
IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. Browse our Pool Plumbing Lubricants for a compatible silicone lubricant.
This O-ring seats at the diffuser within the pump's wet end, maintaining a pressure-tight seal between the diffuser and the pump body. A worn or damaged diffuser O-ring allows air ingestion and pressure loss at the diffuser joint, reducing hydraulic efficiency. Replacing this O-ring restores the diffuser seal and returns the pump to proper operating pressure.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When servicing the diffuser, inspect the O-ring groove for debris or buildup before seating the new O-ring. Always apply a thin, even coat of silicone-based lubricant to the O-ring before reassembly — never petroleum-based grease, which degrades rubber over time. Find the right silicone lubricant in our Pool Plumbing Lubricants collection.
