Before reinstalling the saddle fitting, inspect the return line pipe surface where the saddle seats. Any dirt, scale, or old sealant residue on the pipe wall can prevent a flush, leak-free seal. Clean the pipe surface thoroughly and hand-tighten fasteners evenly to avoid cracking the fitting body.
