When replacing the filter base, inspect the underside of the filter tank for any hairline cracks or stress marks before reinstalling — a compromised tank shell above an intact new base will shorten the repair's lifespan. Hand-tighten the included screws in a cross pattern to seat the base evenly before applying final torque, and confirm all washers are seated flat to prevent uneven load distribution.
