The Hayward Manual Air Relief (SX200G) is the OEM replacement air relief assembly for Hayward ProSeries sand filters, restoring the filter's ability to purge trapped air from the tank before and during operation.
Air accumulation inside a pressurized filter tank reduces filtration efficiency and can cause erratic pressure gauge readings. The manual air relief valve provides a controlled release point at the top of the filter body, allowing trapped air to vent safely before the system reaches operating pressure.

Always open the manual air relief before starting your pump after a filter cleaning or when the system has been shut down for an extended period. Release air until water flows steadily from the valve, then close it. Inspect the relief valve O-ring or seat for wear whenever the filter tank is open — a compromised seal here is a common source of slow leaks at the top of the filter body.
