The Hayward Float Valve Assembly (SP1070FV) is the OEM replacement float valve for the SkimMaster 1070 and 1071 Series in-ground pool skimmers.
The float valve assembly controls the equalizer port inside the skimmer body, automatically opening to draw water from the pool floor when surface water flow drops — protecting the pump from running dry.

Before ordering, confirm your skimmer model number — it is typically molded into the inside of the skimmer body near the throat. Several 1072 Series variants ship from the factory with a float valve assembly already included (models with "FVA" in the SKU suffix). If your skimmer is one of those and the float valve has simply failed, SP1070FV is the correct service replacement. Inspect the float and seat for cracks or mineral buildup at your next filter service; a properly seating float valve is the first line of defence against pump cavitation when water levels drop.
