When installing the replacement locking knob, hand-tighten only — over-torquing a plastic knob can strip the threads or crack the knob body, leading to the same lid-sealing issue you're solving. Inspect the lid O-ring at the same time; a damaged O-ring will cause leaks regardless of how securely the knob is tightened.
