Inspect the strainer basket each time you clean it — look for hairline cracks along the base rim and mesh walls. A cracked basket allows debris to bypass the screen and reach the impeller, which can cause clogging or accelerated wear. If the basket no longer sits flush in the housing or the lid doesn't seal cleanly, replace the basket and inspect the lid O-ring at the same time.
