The Hayward Cartridge Element (CX1750RE) is the OEM replacement filter cartridge for the StarClear Plus 175 sq ft cartridge filter, designed to maintain the original fit and filtration performance of the C1750 and W3C17502 filter units.
The CX1750RE slides directly into the StarClear Plus filter tank, providing the full 175 sq ft of filtration media surface area the filter was engineered around. When the element is clean and correctly seated, the filter delivers its rated first-pass debris removal efficiency and hydraulic flow — keeping your pool water clear between scheduled cleanings. When the element becomes loaded with debris and pressure rises, it's time to remove, rinse, and reinstall or replace this cartridge.

Before ordering, lay a tape measure alongside your old element and compare it to the dimensions above — length and outer diameter are the two numbers that matter most for a proper tank fit. When cleaning, rinse the pleats with a garden hose from top to bottom at a low-angle (never a pressure washer, which damages the media). For deep cleaning after a heavy bather load or algae event, soak the element overnight in a diluted filter cartridge cleaning solution to break down embedded oils and sunscreen before rinsing. Keeping a spare CX1750RE on hand means zero downtime: swap in the clean one while the dirty one soaks.
