Before ordering, measure your existing cartridge's length and outer diameter and compare them to the specs in your C1900 filter manual — this is the fastest way to confirm you have the right element. This is the Hayward OEM replacement, and there are many after-market cartridge filters out there.
When it's time to clean, rinse the pleats from the inside out with a garden hose (never a pressure washer, which damages the filter media). For a deeper clean after a heavy season, soak the cartridge overnight in a dedicated filter cleaner solution to break down embedded oils and sunscreen. Replace your cartridge before the pleat fabric shows visible tears or the end caps crack — a degraded element can allow unfiltered water to bypass directly to the pool.
