The Hayward Filter Element Locator (DEX2400H) is the OEM replacement locator component for Hayward ProGrid DE Filters, keeping the filter element grid assembly correctly positioned within the filter tank during operation.
This locator holds the filter element grid pack in its proper orientation inside the ProGrid filter tank, preventing lateral movement that could allow unfiltered water to bypass the DE-coated grids. Replacing a worn or broken locator restores correct grid alignment and maintains filtration efficiency.

When reassembling the ProGrid filter after a DE recharge or grid cleaning, inspect the locator for cracks or deformation before reinstalling the grid pack. A damaged locator allows the grids to shift under pump pressure, which can result in channeling — water finding a path around the DE media — and reduced water clarity even with a fresh DE charge.
