The Hayward Pressure Gauge (ECX27091) is the OEM replacement 1/4" back-mount pressure gauge for Hayward StarClear cartridge filters and Perflex Extended-Cycle DE filters.
This gauge threads into the filter tank's back-mount port and gives you a direct read of operating pressure inside the filter. A pressure reading that climbs above your filter's normal clean, start-up level is the standard signal of a developing restriction — most often a dirty cartridge or DE-coated grid set, but it can also point to a clogged pump basket or a blocked section of plumbing upstream of the filter.

Note your filter's clean, start-up pressure right after backwashing or hosing off the cartridge or DE grids. A reading that climbs 8-10 PSI above that baseline is the standard cue to clean the filter element — waiting longer than that forces the pump to work harder and reduces flow to your pool.
