About This Item
The Hayward Skim-Vac II with Combo Elbow (SP11071) is the OEM vacuum plate assembly for the Hayward SP1089 front-access skimmer, allowing vacuuming directly through the skimmer basket without cycling the pump.
IMPORTANT: RUBBER GASKET NOT INCLUDED
This assembly does not include a rubber gasket. Confirm you have the required gasket on hand before installation.
The Skim-Vac II sits over the skimmer basket inside the SP1089 skimmer, creating a sealed connection between the vacuum hose and the suction line. The integrated combo elbow accepts both 1-1/4-inch and 1-1/2-inch vacuum hose, so it works with the standard hose sizes in use on most residential pools. Because suction is routed through the skimmer rather than the main drain or pump strainer, vacuuming can begin and end without turning the pump off.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
Before attaching the vacuum hose, prime it fully to remove air — a hose with trapped air will break suction at the Skim-Vac plate and interrupt vacuuming. Once the hose is connected and suction is confirmed, keep an eye on the skimmer basket; because all debris is now captured there rather than at the pump strainer, the basket fills faster during a thorough vacuuming session and should be emptied as needed to maintain flow.
