The Hayward Key Cover and Handle Assembly (SPX0710XBA17) is the OEM replacement handle and cover unit for Hayward VariFlo side-mount and thread-mount multiport valves.
This assembly provides the external handle grip and protective cover that operate the valve's internal rotor, allowing the user to select filter positions — Filter, Backwash, Rinse, Waste, Recirculate, and Closed — on compatible VariFlo valves. Replacing a cracked cover or worn handle restores secure, positive position selection and protects the internal key mechanism from debris and UV damage.
This Does Not Include The Cover O-Ring. Maximum Head Loss 10 PSI / 0.7 BAR

When replacing the handle assembly, inspect the valve's internal rotor and rotor gasket for wear at the same time — a stiff or cracking handle is often accompanied by a worn rotor that prevents the valve from sealing cleanly between positions. Addressing both components in one service visit avoids a second teardown.
