When reassembling skimmer components, tighten screws evenly in a cross pattern to distribute clamping force uniformly across the faceplate or body gasket. Over-tightening individual screws can distort the seating surface and cause persistent weeping leaks — snug and even is the goal. If the existing screws show corrosion or stripped heads, replacing the full set at the same time prevents a return service call mid-season.
