The weir floats at the skimmer opening to regulate the flow of surface water into the skimmer. When the pump is running, it pivots open to allow surface debris to enter; when the pump shuts off, it drops back to prevent debris from returning to the pool. Replacing a damaged or warped weir restores proper debris capture and helps prevent skimmer basket bypass.
