About This Item
The Hayward Strainer Cover with O-Ring (SPX1500D2A) is the OEM replacement strainer lid assembly for PowerFlo LX above-ground pool pumps. This cover includes the O-ring seal, providing everything needed to restore a leak-free strainer basket compartment in a single service part.
IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate the included O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation to ensure a proper seal and prevent premature wear. Browse our Pool Plumbing Lubricants for a compatible silicone lubricant.
The strainer cover seals the pump's strainer basket housing, maintaining system pressure and allowing convenient access for basket cleaning. Replacing the cover and O-ring together eliminates the most common source of air leaks and drips at the pump strainer compartment.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
Before reinstalling the strainer cover, clean the O-ring seat on the pump body to remove any grit or dried sealant residue, then apply a thin, even coat of silicone-based lubricant to the O-ring. A dry or dirty O-ring seat is the leading cause of strainer cover leaks even when the O-ring itself is new. Find a compatible silicone lubricant in our Pool Plumbing Lubricants collection.
