The Hayward Cover Gasket (SPX1600S) is the OEM replacement strainer cover gasket for the Super Pump and Super Pump XE single-speed and variable-speed pump families.
This gasket seats between the strainer cover and the pump body, maintaining a watertight seal at the strainer pot. A failed or degraded cover gasket is a common source of air leaks and priming loss at the pump — replacing it restores the sealed, air-free suction path the pump requires to operate correctly.

Before installing the replacement gasket, clean the seating surfaces on both the strainer cover and the pump body to remove any residue from the old gasket. A clean, flat seating surface is essential for a leak-free seal. Inspect the strainer cover threads and lid clamp at the same time — a distorted lid or worn clamp can prevent the new gasket from seating correctly regardless of its condition.
