About This Item
The Hayward Viton Seal Assembly (SPX4000SAV) is the OEM replacement shaft seal for Hayward TriStar VS and TriStar XE variable-speed pumps.
The shaft seal creates a watertight barrier between the wet end and the motor, preventing water from migrating along the pump shaft toward the motor bearing. Viton elastomer construction offers enhanced resistance to pool chemicals and elevated temperatures compared to standard rubber compounds, making it well suited for continuous variable-speed operation.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
A leaking shaft seal is often the first sign that service is needed — look for water weeping from the underside of the pump between the wet end and the motor housing. When replacing the seal, inspect the shaft sleeve for scoring or corrosion before reinstalling; a damaged sleeve will shorten the life of the new seal. Turn off power to the pump and verify the circuit is de-energized at the breaker before beginning any work on the pump's internal components.
