The Hayward Filter Head (CX900B) is the OEM replacement filter head for the StarClear Plus cartridge filter series, covering 120 sq. ft. and 175 sq. ft. models.
This filter head assembly houses the integrated directional vent valve, which allows trapped air to be purged from the filter tank during start-up and after servicing. Replacing a cracked, warped, or leaking filter head restores a proper pressure seal at the top of the tank and ensures accurate pressure gauge readings during operation.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
Before reinstalling the filter head, inspect the tank O-ring seated in the upper tank groove. Even a minor flat spot or nick on that O-ring can cause a persistent weep leak at the head joint once the system is back under pressure. Replace it at the same time as the filter head to avoid a second disassembly.
