This drain plug seals the tank drain port on compatible Hayward sand filters. The integrated O-ring provides a watertight seal to prevent leakage at the drain fitting during normal operation and when the tank is under pressure. Replacing a worn or cracked drain plug and O-ring restores a secure seal and eliminates drips at the filter base.

Before threading the plug back into the filter tank, apply a thin coat of silicone-based lubricant to the O-ring — never petroleum-based grease, which degrades rubber over time.
