The Hayward Folding Lateral Assembly 21" (SX210DAS) is the OEM replacement lateral assembly for Hayward ProSeries top-mount sand filters, restoring proper water distribution through the filter bed.
Laterals are the slotted distribution arms at the base of the filter tank that allow filtered water to pass through while retaining filter sand. Replacing a cracked or broken lateral eliminates sand bypass — the primary cause of sand passing into pool return lines — and returns the filter to full operating efficiency.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When you open the filter tank for lateral service, inspect the full lateral manifold (hub and all arms) for hairline cracks — they are easy to miss but will allow sand to bypass into the pool. If multiple laterals show stress cracking, replacing the complete lateral assembly rather than individual arms saves a second teardown. Always backwash and re-bed with fresh filter sand after any lateral replacement to remove fine debris dislodged during the repair.
