About This Item
The Hayward Folding Lateral Assembly (SX244DAS) is the OEM replacement lateral assembly for Hayward ProSeries top-mount sand filters ranging from 18" to 27" in diameter.
The lateral assembly sits at the base of the filter tank and distributes water flow evenly through the filter sand bed. When laterals crack, clog, or break, sand bypasses the filtration media and passes directly into the pool — making this a critical service component for restoring proper filtration performance.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When replacing the lateral assembly, drain the filter tank completely and inspect the filter standpipe and hub for cracks before reinstalling. Sand that has already passed into the pool lines is a sign the laterals have been compromised for some time — backwash the system thoroughly after reassembly and run the filter on waste before returning to the normal filter cycle to clear any residual sand from the plumbing.
