The slip adaptor kit connects the filter tank ports directly to the return plumbing where no valve is present between the tank and the pipe. A cracked or degraded adaptor body allows water loss at the tank connection and can introduce air into the return line. Replacing both adaptors together ensures a uniform seal at all tank ports and eliminates the risk of a second service call when the remaining unit fails.

Note that for the FNS Plus 24, 36, 48, and 60 models, this adaptor kit is listed as optional in Pentair's documentation — it is used when the installation calls for direct plumbing without a valve rather than the standard valve configuration.
