We are so sorry to hear this product didn't work well. We were interested to hear about the stainless steel one from Amazon. Investigating it, we wanted to let you know a couple of suggestions: Ensure you remove the tablet after each use, rinse it in fresh water and store in dry location. Also take care of tablet-tightening pressure as they can crack tablets more easily with the screw-clamp design. One reason plastic is used on these commonly is the high risk of corrosion of ongoing contact to chlorine and/or salt pool water. The plastic ones tolerate chemical & salt water exposure a bit more, but we understand that they may be less durable for heavy duty use/scrubbing. Best, Poolaroo Support.
