About This Item
The Pentair Top Manifold Assembly (170027) is the OEM replacement manifold for the Clean & Clear Plus cartridge filter in 320, 420, and 520 sq. ft. configurations.
IMPORTANT: MANUFACTURE DATE REQUIREMENT
This manifold assembly is designed for Clean & Clear Plus filters manufactured after November 1998. Confirm your filter's manufacture date before ordering — earlier units require a different manifold assembly.
The top manifold distributes flow evenly across the cartridge elements inside the filter tank. A cracked, warped, or fatigued manifold allows water to bypass the filter media, reducing filtration effectiveness and causing short-circuit flow within the tank. Replacing a damaged manifold restores proper flow distribution and full filtration performance.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When replacing the top manifold, inspect the cartridge elements and the bottom manifold for cracking or deformation at the same time — these components experience the same pressure cycling and often reach end-of-life together. Replacing the manifold with worn cartridges in place will not restore full filtration performance. Confirm your filter's manufacture date (typically on a label affixed to the tank body) before ordering to ensure this assembly is the correct fit.
