Pool lighting components operate in wet environments. Installation must comply with NEC Article 680 and be performed by a licensed electrician.
The cord seal grommet seals the point where the power cord exits the lighting niche housing, preventing water ingress at the cord entry and maintaining the watertight integrity of the niche. A cracked, compressed, or missing grommet can allow water to migrate along the cord path into the niche, compromising the electrical connection. Replacing the full set of 3 grommets restores the cord seal to OEM specification.

Pro Tip
When replacing the cord seal grommets, inspect the full length of the cord jacket at and near the niche entry point for cracking, abrasion, or deterioration before reinstalling. A compromised cord jacket at the seal point can allow water ingress even with new grommets seated correctly. Replace all 3 grommets as a set — mixing aged and new grommets can result in uneven sealing. Pool lighting work in wet environments must be performed by a licensed electrician in compliance with NEC Article 680.
