The Pentair O-Ring for Air Vent Valve (R172221Z) is the OEM replacement O-ring for the air vent valve on Pentair Dynamic Filter Series II & III cartridge filter equipment, as well as the compatible Chlorine/Bromine Dispenser for RCF-RTL models.
IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
This O-ring seals the air vent valve on Pentair Dynamic Filter Series II & III housings. A compromised seal at the vent valve allows air to bypass the valve seat, disrupting proper air relief during filter startup and backwash cycles. Replacing this O-ring restores a proper airtight seal at the vent.

Before installing, clean the valve seat and O-ring groove thoroughly to remove any debris or residue from the old O-ring. Apply a thin, even coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring before seating it — this prevents tearing during installation and ensures a proper seal. Never use petroleum-based lubricants, which degrade EPDM and similar elastomers.
