About This Item

The Pentair Air Vent Valve (R172224XZ) is the OEM replacement air vent valve for the Pentair Dynamic Filter Series II and Series III cartridge filters.

This valve releases trapped air from the filter tank during start-up and priming, and drains water from the tank during filter servicing or winterization. A failed or leaking air vent valve can prevent proper pressurization of the filter and cause water loss at the valve body.

When replacing the air vent valve, inspect the valve seat and surrounding housing threads for cracks or mineral deposits before installing the new valve. Clean threads thoroughly and apply PTFE thread tape to ensure a leak-free seal. Open the vent valve slowly during filter start-up to bleed air before closing it fully under pressure.
