Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
This O-ring seats between the chlorinator lid and the feeder housing, maintaining a watertight closure under normal operating pressure. A worn or damaged O-ring at this joint allows chlorinated water to bypass the seal, resulting in leaks at the lid and inconsistent chemical output. Replacing this O-ring restores a proper pressure seal and eliminates lid-joint leakage.
