The Pentair U109-93SS (also known as 5056-08) is the replacement shaft seal for pre-1998 Sta-Rite Dura-Glas and Max-E-Glas pool pumps. This 5/8-inch Buna rubber "old style" seal is designed for copper insert pump configurations.
What It Does
The shaft seal sits at the interface between the pump motor's rotating shaft and the impeller. When this seal wears or fails, water can migrate past it and into the motor, causing accelerated corrosion and component damage. Replacing the shaft seal at the first sign of weeping or leakage at the pump shaft prevents consequential damage to the motor and surrounding pump components.
