The Pentair Drain Plug (U178-920PZ) is the OEM replacement 1/4 in. NPT drain plug for a wide range of Pentair multiport valves, inground and aboveground pumps, pool heaters, sand filters, and suction trap assemblies.

This drain plug is confirmed for use in Pentair Max-E-Therm, MasterTemp, and ETi® heaters. Gas and electrical heater components must be serviced by a licensed pool professional or qualified HVAC technician. Do not attempt to service gas or high-voltage components without proper certification.

The drain plug seals the 1/4 in. NPT drain port on the equipment body, allowing the wetted chamber to be fully pressurized during normal operation and safely drained for winterization, service, or transport. A missing or damaged plug at this port results in a water leak at the equipment pad — in heaters, this can also allow water intrusion into heat exchanger components during seasonal shutdown.
