Always lubricate the O-rings in this kit with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The 270514Z kit replaces the primary wear components inside the FullFlo XF Backwash Valve — the internal O-rings, inlet and outlet diverters, and waste seal. When these parts degrade, the valve loses its ability to maintain a clean seal between backwash and filter positions, resulting in water bypassing through the waste port during normal filtration or poor backwash performance. Replacing the full set at once returns the valve to reliable, leak-free operation.

When rebuilding a backwash valve, replace all O-rings in the kit at the same time — even if only one appears worn. The Buna O-rings in this kit (#2-244 and #2-116) operate under continuous water pressure and age at similar rates, so a partial replacement often leads to a return service call within the same season. Before reassembly, apply Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant to all O-rings to ensure a proper seal and prevent premature cracking.
