The Pentair Spider Gasket (14971-SM20E12) is the OEM replacement spider gasket for Sta-Rite and ABS 2-inch side-mount multiport valves. When this gasket wears or tears, water bypasses the rotor and the valve loses the ability to route flow accurately between filter, backwash, rinse, and waste positions.

Before installing the new spider gasket, clean the valve body channel thoroughly — any debris or old gasket material left in the seat groove will prevent the rotor from seating flush and cause the same cross-flow or bypass symptoms you're replacing this gasket to fix. Inspect the rotor itself for cracking or warping while the valve is open; if the rotor is damaged, replacing the gasket alone will not restore proper valve function. Confirm your valve is the 2-inch model before ordering — this gasket is sized specifically for 2 in. Sta-Rite and ABS side-mount multiport valves and will not seal correctly in a 1½-inch valve body.
