The Pentair 1-1/2 in. NPT Plug (27001-0022) is the OEM replacement drain plug for Pentair Sta-Rite System 2 and System 3 modular cartridge, D.E., and sand filters — sealing the drain port on the filter tank body for service and winterization.
IMPORTANT: MODEL YEAR REQUIREMENT — PLD FILTER SYSTEMS
For PLD Filter Systems base models 155331P and 155333P, this plug applies to units manufactured in 2009 and beyond. Verify your filter's manufacture date before ordering if you own a PLD base system.
This plug seals the 1-1/2 in. NPT drain port on the filter tank, allowing the system to hold water during normal operation and enabling full drainage for cartridge cleaning, media replacement, or off-season winterization. A missing or damaged drain plug will prevent the filter from holding pressure and can result in water loss at the tank base.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When reinstalling this plug after filter maintenance or winterization, wrap the NPT threads with two to three layers of PTFE (Teflon) thread seal tape before threading in. Hand-tighten first, then snug with a wrench — over-tightening an NPT plug in a filter tank body can crack the port. Inspect the plug's threads annually for signs of chemical degradation or cross-threading, which are common causes of slow leaks at the filter base.
