This union assembly provides the 3"/2.5" plumbing connection point between compatible Pentair equipment and the pool's hydraulic circuit. The union design allows the equipment to be disconnected from the plumbing for servicing without cutting pipe. Replacing a deteriorated or cracked union assembly restores a watertight connection and eliminates joint leaks at the equipment pad.

When replacing a union assembly on high-flow XF-series equipment, inspect the mating port face on the pump or filter housing for hairline cracks before installing the new union. A damaged port face will cause the new assembly to leak regardless of how tightly the union nut is torqued. If the threads on the existing union nut are in good condition, they are not part of this kit — confirm which items in the parts diagram you are replacing before ordering to avoid a second service call.
