The Pentair Drain Plug (357161Z) is the OEM replacement 1/4" NPT drain plug in black for a wide range of Pentair inground, variable speed, and commercial pool pumps — including the SuperFlo VS/VST, SuperMax VS, WhisperFlo, IntelliPro, Max-E-ProXF, Challenger High Flow, and EQ Series.

Most Pentair pump models use two drain plugs — one on the pump housing and one on the strainer pot. This listing is for one (1) plug. Order two if servicing a full pump drain, or verify your model's requirement in the Fits Into table below.

For IntelliPro VS+SVRS pumps, this drain plug applies to units manufactured after June 2016 only. Verify your pump's manufacture date before ordering.

This is the black version of the 1/4" Pentair drain plug. Confirm the color of your existing plug before ordering to ensure a correct match.
This 1/4" NPT drain plug seals the drain port(s) on the pump housing and strainer pot. A missing, cracked, or cross-threaded drain plug results in water loss and prevents the pump from holding prime. Replacing a damaged or lost plug with the correct OEM part restores a watertight seal and returns the pump to normal operation.

Poolaroo Pro Tip
When draining your pump for winterization or service, both drain plugs — on the volute and on the strainer pot — should be removed to allow complete water evacuation. Inspect the plug threads and the mating port threads at the same time. If either is damaged, replace both plugs now rather than chasing a leak at startup. Hand-tighten only; over-torquing a 1/4" NPT plug into a plastic pump body is a common cause of housing cracks.
