On IntelliProXF VS pumps, this assembly fits units manufactured after August 2015. Check your pump's build date or compare against your original part before ordering to confirm fitment.
This assembly forms the sealed closure over the pump strainer housing. The locking ring secures the lid against the housing O-ring to maintain the airtight seal required for the pump to prime and hold consistent suction — a worn, cracked, or stripped locking ring is a common source of air leaks and prime loss on these pump series.

Before reinstalling, inspect the lid O-ring for flat spots, nicks, or hardening — a worn seal will cause the same air-lock symptoms as a failed locking ring even after this part is replaced. Hand-tighten the locking ring evenly in a star pattern rather than cranking down on one side; overtightening can crack the ring or distort the housing threads.
