This kit is confirmed for Max-E-Therm 400 (NA/LP) heaters manufactured after January 12, 2009. If your Max-E-Therm 400 was manufactured before that date, verify this part number against your equipment's serial plate and service manual before ordering.

The tube sheet coil assembly is the core heat exchanger in Pentair's MasterTemp and Max-E-Therm 400K BTU heaters. Unlike straight, flat heat exchangers found in many other heaters, Pentair's design uses a rounded coil configuration — a distinguishing characteristic of this heater family. A degraded or leaking tube sheet coil results in loss of heating efficiency, water contamination of the combustion chamber, or visible water leakage at the heat exchanger. Replacing this assembly restores the heater to OEM thermal performance specifications.
