What It Does
The ORP sensor continuously measures the oxidation-reduction potential of your pool or spa water within the IntelliChem flow cell, providing the real-time sanitizer activity readings that the IntelliChem controller relies on to automate chemical dosing. When the sensor degrades or drifts out of calibration range, the controller can no longer accurately regulate sanitizer output — replacing it with the OEM sensor restores closed-loop chemical control. ORP sensors have a finite service life and are typically replaced on a 1–2 year cycle or whenever the controller reports persistent calibration errors that cannot be resolved by recalibration alone. When replacing the ORP sensor, inspect the pH sensor in the same flow cell at the same time — both sensors are subject to the same water exposure and often reach end-of-life together. Replacing both during a single service visit avoids a repeat call shortly after.
