The circular weir floats at the water surface inside the skimmer throat, creating continuous skimming action that draws surface debris into the skimmer basket. The integrated equalizer fitting maintains water flow to the skimmer when pool water level drops, preventing the pump from drawing air. A deteriorated weir reduces surface skimming efficiency; a compromised equalizer fitting can introduce air entrainment at the pump. Also verify your equalizer port accepts a slip fitting; slip and threaded connections are not interchangeable and the wrong configuration will not seal correctly.
