This O-ring seats around the 5/16 in. temperature sensor body, maintaining a watertight seal at the sensor insertion point. A failed or degraded O-ring at this location allows water to bypass the seal, which can result in moisture intrusion, inaccurate temperature readings, or damage at the sensor port.

Before installing this O-ring, clean the sensor port groove thoroughly to remove any debris or remnants of the old O-ring. Apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring before seating it — this prevents tearing during installation and ensures a proper seal. Never use petroleum-based lubricants, which degrade rubber O-rings.
