For Clean & Clear Filter Systems (model number CLEAN & CLEAR), this cartridge fits units manufactured 2009 and beyond. If your filter was manufactured before 2009, verify the part number against your equipment manual before ordering.
The cartridge element is the primary filtration media in your Pentair cartridge filter. As pool water passes through the pleated polyester fabric, debris, fine particles, and contaminants are captured and held in the cartridge folds. When the filter pressure gauge reads 8–10 PSI above the clean starting pressure, the cartridge is due for cleaning or replacement. A degraded or clogged cartridge reduces flow through the system and compromises water clarity.

When inspecting a used cartridge for replacement, check the pleated fabric for tears, collapsed pleats, or a grey-brown discolouration that doesn't rinse clean — any of these indicate the cartridge has reached end of service life and should be replaced rather than cleaned. For filters running in high-bather-load or high-debris environments, keeping a second cartridge on hand lets you swap immediately and soak the dirty one in cartridge cleaner overnight, extending the usable life of both elements.
