About This Item
The Pentair R173576 is the OEM replacement filter cartridge for the Clean & Clear Plus 420 sq. ft. cartridge filter. Four cartridges are required per filter unit — this listing is for one individual cartridge.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: 4 CARTRIDGES REQUIRED PER FILTER
The Clean & Clear Plus 420 sq. ft. filter requires 4 of these cartridges for a complete service. This listing is for one (1) cartridge. Order 4 to complete a full replacement.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: FILTER MANUFACTURE DATE APPLIES
This cartridge is confirmed for Clean & Clear Plus 420 sq. ft. filters manufactured after November 1998. Verify your filter's manufacture date before ordering.
The R173576 cartridge is the filtration element inside the Clean & Clear Plus CCP420 housing. As pool water passes through the pleated filter media, the cartridge captures debris, oils, and fine particulates before the water returns to the pool. When cartridges become clogged or the filter media degrades, flow rate drops and water clarity suffers — replacing all four cartridges at the same time restores the filter to full rated capacity.

Pro Tip
Always replace all four cartridges as a set. Mixing new and used cartridges creates uneven flow distribution across the filter elements, which accelerates wear on the new cartridges and reduces overall filtration efficiency. While the filter is open for service, inspect the tank O-ring and internal manifold for wear — addressing those components during the same service visit avoids a repeat teardown.
